A young figure holds still as an elder raises the blade above his head, a quiet moment of ritual and passage. Painted in 2020, the work places tradition beside the realities of that year: children in face masks, a township home, the name of the city, a dove and flowers in full bloom. It is a meditation on the rituals that carry us through change, and on how we keep moving forward, even when we have to make progress alone.
